Located in El Cacao de Alajuela, skirting the Poas Volcano, Asclepios,(honoring the Greek God of Health) Luxury Boutique Hotel Wellness and Healing Retreat offers its guests 12 rooms which evoke the most important medical traditions of the world, together with a regulated ionized swimming pool, amphitheatre, fitness center, exercise pavilion, sauna, hammam, nature paths, 8 treatment lodges and a relaxation room.

There's a team of highly skilled spa therapists and another team of selected holistic practitioners from all over the world that have a great understanding and passion for physical, emotional and spiritual health resulting in great wellbeing.

Asclepios seeks to educate guests in the aspects of environmental appreciation and conservation. The Center will not compromise the natural habitat and so it only occupies 20,000 square feet in an area comprising 12,500 acres. It will be built in siding and brick, two ecological and renewable materials. They use thermal solar collectors and water recirculation systems and take advantage of natural ventilation and natural lighting.

Wild life has been preserved and the primary and secondary forests will be untouched. They are cultivating a wonderful organic farm and are working together with experts to reintroduce native plants and animals that have been driven out by alien species.

A la carte services include: Naturopathy, Detoxification and Revitalization Programs, Stress and Weight Management, Meditation, Reiki, Acupuncture, Watsu, Floral Therapy, Homeopathy, Vichy and Scottish Showers; Kneipp, Shiatsu, Shirodhara, Yoga, Pilates, and Tai chi.

Vegetarian and non vegetarian meals are available with delicious organic vegetables and fruit grown on the premises.

Some of the specialties are:

• Oven baked eggplant filled with mozarella cheese, pesto and nuts
• Curried vegetables casserole, with coconut milk and basil
• Sauteed spinach, accompanied by ginger glazed tofu and mango dices
• Ricotta and almond filled zuchini, with tomato sauce over lemon rind potato puree
• Pejibaye and other root vegetables casserole

All the dishes begin with a delicious salad bar.
