Ecolodge
San Luis and Biological Station is an integrated eco tourism, research
and educational project directed on-site by resident tropical biologists.
A wide range of activities is offered to enrich the stay of each guest:
guided and independent walks on a extensive trail system, night hikes,
tropical farm activities, reforestation, world-class bird
watching with expert guides, photography, swimming, horseback riding,
hands-on laboratory, day trips to Monteverde, and a host of cultural
activities.
The
hotel is situated on 70 hectares(175 acres) at the head of the
San Luis Valley in northwestern Costa Rica. The property borders the
Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve and the Children's International Rain
Forest, and shares with them a stunning diversity of wildlife. This
is a birder's paradise: around 200 species of birds occur here. Notable
mammals include monkeys, sloths and ocelots.
All accommodations are newly-built,
comfortable, and immaculate. Two kinds of lodging are available: 1-)
Spacious, well-appointed cabina rooms nestled among the trees, with
private baths and verandas overlooking the San Luis River gorge; and
2-) cozy bunkhouse facilities, with bunk beds in mahogany-paneled dormitory
rooms and shared baths.
A minimum stay of 2 to 3 nights is strongly recommended in order to take part of the many activities available.
The package is comprehensive and includes lodging, delicious home-cooked meals, expert guides and full range of activities. |
