Nestled in the hills above Ballena National Park with spectacular ocean views of the “Whale’s Tail” coral reef and Caño Island is Costa Rica’s smallest Jungle Boutique Hotel, Las Terrazas de Ballena (Whale Terraces), formerly the Balcon de Uvita.  The newly opened Terrazas de Ballena has just completed a half million dollar renovation which includes, among other amenities, Tai-inspired furnishings and a brand new road allowing easier access up the mountain to the hotel.

The three acre compound has six terraces that look like they are floating in the jungle. Two terraces support an open air restaurant and lounge, three are private living spaces for the bungalows and one surrounds the tropical swimming pool and water fall.  All have the same spectacular views of the only whale sanctuary in Costa Rica.

The pool terrace joins the three suites together and is a perfect place for soaking in the sun while watching a monkey or sloth wander by.

The three luxury suites can be rented as a private compound or individually.  Two bungalows have King Beds and Queen Day beds in each, while t he third has a queen bed. All suites are air-conditioned, with flat screen satellite TV. Each bungalow has an outdoor kitchenette & private terrace for watching Toucans flying by and the glorious Costa Rican sunsets.

The signature Bento Box has redefined dining in the area with a sampling of four entrees from the menu of international cuisine and comfort foods.  This is truly a one of a kind dining experience for the senses.

Enjoy relaxing on the couch in the Sunset Living Room or exhale and have a cocktail at the Buddha Bar. There is free wireless internet as well.
